Welcome to Fleetwood Festive Lights Fund

FLEETWOOD, Lancs, 04 December, 2008

Fleetwood Town Football Club Manager Micky Mellon joined the Lord Street festivities on Thursday evening when he switched on the Fleetwood Festive Lights. Mayor of Wyre, Councillor Gordan McCann joined Micky on the podium and said "In partnership with Wyre, Malcolm Ratcliffe, the chairman of Fleetwood Festive Lights, has done a very good job. The place really looks festive. It will do some good for the commercial premises and will lift the spirit of the town."

Taking time out before Thursday evening training, the manager said "“I was delighted when asked to switch on the lights. It’s an honour and shows the depth of feeling the port has for the football club. The festive lights look fabulous and they make Lord Street look special."

The Fleetwood Festive Lights Fund has been set up to bring Christmas lights back to the town, to brighten up the dark winter days, to cheer children of all ages.

Lighting up the town is not as straightforward as buying a few bulbs and plugging them in -find out all that goes on behind the scenes, how much it costs and how you can join in with the fun all year round.

Fleetwood Festive Lights Fund - not just for Christmas!

About Fleetwood Festive Lights Fund

We are a small committee working for the people of Fleetwood in order to create a festive lights display to keep alive the spirit of Christmas for everyone. We work by pulling together the communities within Fleetwood in various ways to achieve the town centre illuminations. This provides volunteer opportunities, helping the community to help itself and further community development. We hold fundraising events, children's parties and general events, hold raffles, tombolas, boot sales etc. Not all of our events are to raise money, but benefit of the community spirit.

How can you help?

The committee welcomes your help! Whether you have had experience in voluntary work or have never done anything like this before, you are very welcome to join us. There is always something to do to help.

However, if you have a particular skill which can promote our events and make decisions you are more than welcome to join our committee. Please see our contact page.

Events

The lights committee try to arrange an event each month - so please come back to see what is happening.
